I mentioned earlier, on my Facebook page, that I was a VIP spotlight presenter at the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) eChapter meeting today.
Here are some tips for a low cost Spring refresh that I shared with my audience at the end of the meeting. There are 3 categories that you can focus on: – Color, Accessorizing and Staging your space.
• Color
– Change your wall color. This will have one of the biggest impact – maybe add an interesting wall paper on a feature wall.
– Repaint your front door with a bold color that captures your interior color scheme. This can be an introduction to your guests of your interior space.
• Accessorizing
– Change bedding, window treatments, throws and throw pillows. Get lighter colors and material. Throw pillows can be used to slowly introduce color into your space, if you are afraid of color. Get a bold color that will compliment your space. This season is trending blue – all shades of blue, even in fashion. Also I always advise my clients, especially those who like to change their décor with the change in seasons, to purchase pillow covers only as they are easier to store. Many stores sell only covers. Look at stores like West Elm, Pottery Barn, William Sonoma, Restoration Hardware.
– Display your collectibles. Don’t be afraid to put out your collectibles, especially from your travels – this will give your space an even more personal touch. However, be careful to have the right balance between just enough and too much so that your space does not feel cluttered.
• Staging
-Move around your furniture, if you can. Take into consideration the traffic flow and movement around the furniture.
If you incorporate most or all of the above you will have a space that looks like a new room!
