One of the most defining aspect of any design is color. The interior design industry’s premium paint giants, Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams have announced their selections for the #2016ColorofTheYear:
- Benjamin Moore is Simply White – OC 117
- Sherwin Williams is Alabaster – SW7008.
There is a stir (no pun intended) in the industry about whether or not enough thought went into choosing these neutral colors to represent their 2016 Color of the Year. In the past the selections had more hue. For example, the 2015 colors were Guilford Green (HC-116) – a silvery green color and Coral Reef (SW6606) for Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams, respectively.
I find both colors chosen for 2016 to be pure, simple and calming and the perfect backdrop for vibrant colors. A neutral backdrop allows you to experiment with different colors in design by using accessories or furnishing.
What do you think of the2016 colors of the year? Would you use them in your space?
